The term perimenopause often arrives with a flurry of questions, discomfort, and confusion. 

  • Why am I so hot at night? 

  • Why do I feel anxious for no reason? 

  • Where has my energy gone? 

  • And perhaps most heartbreakingly… 

  • Why does it feel like my body is letting me down and betraying me?

Perimenopause is a time of profound physiological and energetic transition. Your body, which once cycled with predictable rhythm, now begins a new dance. It’s not a decline, but a recalibration. And while this shift can feel destabilising at times, it is also rich with insight, wisdom and the chance to reconnect with the truth of who you are.

This season of the self asks you to;

Slow down. 

To listen. 

To realign.

It’s not just about hormones - it’s about coming home. Home to your truth, wisdom and essence.

Perimenopause is not “one-size-fits-all.”

For some, it’s a slow and gentle shift. For others, it’s a full-blown reckoning. 

Here are just a few of the common symptoms - and the metaphysical insight behind them:

  • Hot flushes & night sweats: Your body is literally burning through what no longer serves you. A sign of rising energy, and an urgent call to pause, rest and let go.

  • Mood swings & irritability: Suppressed emotions and untended truths rising to be seen. You are being asked to feel what has long been pushed down.

  • Fatigue & burnout: Your body is saying “enough.” This is the season of slowing. Of changing your pace to align with your truth - not the world’s expectations.

  • Brain fog: Your mind is not failing - it’s recalibrating. Your wisdom is shifting from logic to intuition. From doing to being.

  • Sleep disturbances: A call to tend to your nervous system, to unplug and to create sacred rituals of rest.

  • Weight gain or bloating: Often linked to hormonal changes - but also emotionally connected to self-protection, unmet needs and a deep inner resistance to change.

These symptoms aren’t problems to be “fixed” - they’re body messages. 

Messages that ask us to listen deeper, feel more fully and nourish ourselves from the inside out.

This stage of life also stirs the energy body. As emotions and unspoken truths rise, they often show up in the body’s subtle systems:

  • Throat chakra: Linked to communication and truth. Thyroid imbalances or tension in the neck and jaw may reflect unspoken needs or fear of expressing your truth.

  • Sacral chakra: The seat of your creativity, sexuality, and emotions. Dryness, loss of desire, or pelvic discomfort can signal the need for emotional flow and reconnection with your sensual self.

  • Solar plexus: The centre of personal power, identity and confidence. Feelings of disorientation, self-doubt, or control may arise here as your sense of self evolves.

When you tend to your energetic body alongside the physical body, transformation happens not just on the surface - but at soul level.
