Reclaiming Your Energy: The Power of Small Shifts in a Fast-Paced World
There’s a quiet revolution happening within women everywhere.
It’s not loud or flashy. It’s not a dramatic before-and-after story or a five-step plan to becoming a new version of yourself. It’s something far more real, more grounded, and more sustainable. It begins with one small moment: a breath, a pause, a conscious choice to tune in rather than tune out.
In our podcast episode with the luminous Rigel Barry, a Holistic Health Coach, Reiki Master, and Intuitive Energy Therapist, we spoke deeply about this moment. The moment you realise you’ve been pouring all your energy outward. And the moment you choose to take just a little bit of it back.
Because here’s the truth: in today’s world, we are leaking energy everywhere.

From endless notifications, the constant scroll, the weight of responsibilities, the mental load, the emotional labour, the to-do lists and expectations and invisible pressures... it’s no wonder we feel burnt out, disconnected, and just plain tired.
We talk a lot about burnout, overwhelm, perimenopause, fatigue, and stress, and yes, all of these are real. But what if we zoomed out and asked:
Where is my energy actually going? And how can I begin reclaiming it?
The Myth of “I Don’t Have Time”
One of the most profound moments in our chat with Rigel was when she lovingly challenged the belief so many of us carry: "I just don’t have time to care for myself."
If this sounds like something you’ve said, or thought, you’re not alone.
Maybe your day is packed from sunrise to sundown with work, children, caregiving, bills, errands, life. Maybe you’ve gotten used to running on empty, normalised feeling exhausted, and labelled self-care as indulgent or unrealistic.
But Rigel reminded us of something powerful:
You don’t need an hour. You need a moment.
She calls them “snack-size resets” - tiny, intentional pauses that help you tune back into yourself. That could look like:
Turning off the TV or background noise for 10 minutes of quiet
Drinking your morning tea outside with bare feet on the grass
Taking three slow breaths with your hand over your heart
Swapping a fizzy drink for water
Putting your phone in another room and sitting in stillness
None of these things require a complete life overhaul. They simply require a conscious decision to bring some of your energy back home.
Why This Matters (More Than You Might Think)
When we’re constantly “on” - thinking, doing, giving, moving - we deplete the very essence of what makes us feel alive and connected. This has a physiological impact (on hormones, immune function, digestion) and a deeply emotional one.
Rigel sees this in her energy practice constantly: women showing up exhausted, disconnected, overwhelmed, carrying the weight of everyone else’s needs. Their nervous systems are in constant fight-or-flight mode, and they can’t seem to catch their breath - literally or energetically.
What’s heartbreaking is that many of us don’t even realise this is happening. We’ve normalised it. We've labelled it "just life." But here's the invitation:
You don’t have to feel this way.
You don’t have to stay here.
And you don’t have to do it all.

Reclaiming your energy isn’t about selfishness.
It’s about sustainability.
It’s about sovereignty.
It’s about showing up to life from a place of connection - not depletion.
What Are You Leaking Energy Into?
Take a moment to reflect:
Where do you feel the most drained in your day?
What fills you up?
Are you spending more time scrolling, reacting, comparing—or creating, connecting, resting?
What would shift if you said no to just one draining commitment?
And perhaps most importantly:
Where in your life are you ready to call your energy back to you?
This doesn’t mean quitting your job or booking a silent retreat (though if that’s available to you, bliss!). It might mean saying no to one event. Deleting one app. Sitting in your car for an extra 5 minutes in silence before walking into your home.
It starts small.
It starts now.
And it starts with you.
You’re Allowed to Choose You
A reminder that we can love our people deeply and take care of ourselves. That putting yourself first isn’t selfish, it’s sacred. Because no one is going to hand you a permission slip to rest. To breathe. To be. You have to write it for yourself.
And when you do?
You’re calmer. You’re more grounded. You’re more you.
And the ripple effect of that reaches everyone around you.
